42 Technology was appointed by Talaris – a world leader in cash handling equipment and software solutions – to help develop its next generation of banknote sorting and validation systems.

The product range enabled easier, faster and more reliable handling of used notes by bank tellers, as well as greater security and more accurate identification of counterfeit currency.

Talaris first approached 42 Technology to help run a product innovation workshop with engineers based at its main product development facility in Bern, Switzerland before then appointing the consultancy to develop initial system concepts for the new range.

Engineers from the two companies worked together to integrate new technologies into specific modules, optimise system designs, reduce product footprints and look for ways to lower manufacturing costs in readiness for volume production and market launch.
