Just when we’d finally figured out the air-con system and cracked the perfect office temperature that pleased everyone… we’ve gone and moved!
As of 28 July 2025, 42 Technology is now officially based at Cambourne Park Science & Technology Campus. After 27 years of growth and innovation, we needed a space that could match our ambitions, and this move delivers exactly that.
Why we made the move
We’d simply outgrown our old home in St. Ives. We needed premises that could support the next chapter in our growth. And the new location doesn’t hurt either. We’re now just 9 miles West of Cambridge, set in picturesque parkland with lakes, cycleways and footpaths. Not a bad place to spend our working days.
Our newly fitted office is brighter, more spacious and much easier to navigate than our previous headquarters. It’s purpose-built for what we do and we’re excited about what this means for our future.
What’s changed (and what hasn’t)
The move has given us some significant upgrades:
- Expanded laboratories and workshop space for our R&D projects
- Enhanced facilities designed specifically for bringing client projects to life
- Better transport links with easier access from major routes
- Ample parking (finally!)
But here’s what hasn’t changed: our phone numbers, email addresses and, most importantly, our people. We’re still the same team.
What this means for our clients
Potentially quite a lot. This move is more than just a change of scenery. It marks a step up in what we can offer. With more space, better facilities and room to grow, we’re now even better equipped to take on larger, more ambitious projects.
It means more capacity to support our clients, more time to innovate and a team that’s ready to deliver on projects where the stakes are high and the outcomes matter.
What this means for 42T
Pretty much everything, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Our new headquarters is purpose-built for what we do best: combining engineering, design and user insight to turn bold ideas into market-ready solutions. It’s spacious, modern and perfectly suited to the curious, pragmatic approach that got us here.
Our journey so far
This relocation has given us time to reflect on just how far we’ve come. It’s the latest chapter in quite an adventure since we launched in 1998 with a mission inspired by Douglas Adams. Over the years, we’ve:
- Moved from Peterborough to St Ives, then became proudly independent in 2015
- Helped crack TB diagnostics with FIND and backed SKYLON’s reusable spaceplane vision
- Delivered the world’s first handheld smart helium microdispenser with Inficon
- Developed AI-powered newborn eye screening with Addenbrooke’s Hospital
- Won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise
- Hosted the Duke of Kent for tea and a tech talk
- Showcased our work at CES 2025 in Las Vegas
- And yes, won BBC’s Only Connect (still our proudest team quiz moment)
Each milestone has shaped who we are today, and this move to Cambourne feels like the natural next step in our evolution.
