Mike Sales is a Principal Consultant at 42T and leads the company’s Embedded AI group, guiding how artificial intelligence can be responsibly and effectively integrated into real-world products. A Chartered Engineer with an MEng in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York, Mike brings deep experience across electronics, embedded systems, software development, and intelligent systems.
At 42T, Mike is driving the use of embedded AI in sectors such as medical diagnostics, consumer testing, and environmental sensing. He recently led AI integration for a medical imaging device designed to detect abnormalities in newborns’ eyes in real time. Other notable work includes developing a robot control application for consumer product testing, and embedded software for precision infrared gas detection.
His work blends technical excellence with a strong user focus, creating cost-effective, reliable products that meet both engineering and end-user needs.
Life outside work
When he’s not at his desk, Mike’s usually running up a hill, or over it. He’s completed three 50km ultramarathons and is happiest when the trail is long, steep, and preferably above 2,000 metres.
